About Z.W. Kelley

My name is Zachary Kelley. I’ve been a born-again Christian for over a decade, giving my life to Jesus when I was 19 years old at a basketball court in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

I grew up within what we label as Western Christianity. I was a Christian by default. I like to say now that I knew of Jesus, but I didn’t truly know Him.

That began to change one day at a basketball court.

My Story

After a fit of rage I threw from ruining a pair of brand-new basketball shoes at the park, a friend of mine was bold enough to take a small, pocket-sized Bible and place a Chick-fil-A straw inside of it, marking the Gospel of John.

Despite my anger and frustration, he didn’t let that stop him from handing me that Bible—the same Bible I still carry with me to this day—and asking me to take a moment and read it.

He left me there by myself in that parking lot.

I sat in my truck and read the Gospel of John for hours. And there, through simply reading the Word, I encountered Jesus and gave my life to Him forever.

I didn’t have a formal church background. My family didn’t do that. My encounter with Jesus was unique, and it will forever be special to me because it was so closely connected to reading the Word—reading Jesus as He called Himself.

I’ll forever be grateful to Nate for his boldness and Justin for his patience as they helped spur me deeper into my faith throughout those first few months and years.

As time progressed, I’ve also been incredibly blessed to marry the greatest woman on earth. She has helped shape the man of God that I am today. We have children in heaven and two boys here with us now. The Lord is, and will continue to be, faithful to us.

My Heart for the Church

Over the last decade, I’ve served in a local church within youth ministry. I’ve also had experience serving in production and other areas.

My heart is for the Church because Jesus loved the Church. Jesus loved people, and so will I.

Why I’m Writing

I’ve written a fictional book for a series called Nexus, and I’m continuing to write books within the realm of apologetics now. More on that in the future.

For now, I’m content with creating this site as a place to share my Bible studies, devotions, and apologetic thoughts with you—to encourage you in your faith and equip you with the tools needed to study Scripture deeply and show yourself approved.

I hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as I enjoy writing them.

More than anything, I pray God blesses you and grants you not only wisdom, but love.

Be like Jesus.
Walk like Jesus.
Love like Jesus.

That’s my heart and my prayer for you.
